Align a GameObject to the grid

You can align or push a GameObjectThe fundamental object in Unity scenes, which can represent characters, props, scenery, cameras, waypoints, and more. A GameObject’s functionality is defined by the Components attached to it. More info

to either the closest grid point on a single axis or on all axes at once.

To align a GameObject to the closest point on a grid for a specific axis:

  1. In the Grid and Snap overlay, select the downward facing arrow next to Toggle grid snapping to open the Snapping menu.
  2. In the Align Selected property, select the X, Y, or Z button that matches the grid axis you want to align to.

To align a GameObject to all axes at once:

  1. Select the GameObject you want to align to the grid.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Press Ctrl+\ (macOS: Cmd+\) to push the GameObject onto the grid on all axes.
    • In the Grid and Snap overlay, select the downward facing arrow next to Toggle grid snapping to open the Snapping menu. In the Align Selected property, select All Axes.
