The option to set the number of pending buffers for a channel.

These buffers are allocated dynamically as required when writes to the transport layer fail. Each buffer will be the size of maxPacketSize for the channel - usually around 1400 bytes. The default is 16 buffers.

This only applies to reliable channels. If a reliable channel runs out of pnding buffers, data will be lost.
